3 High-End Makeup Primers That Work!

What makes a makeup primer “work”? It should lengthen the wear of your foundation, and not clog your pores. Primers create an even canvas so the rest of your makeup goes on smoothly, blends well, and lasts all day. After testing over 15 primers (mainly at Sephora), the following three are clear winners.

  1. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer 1 oz. – $20.00

There are different formulations that Laura Mercier offers, but the best-known is their “Radiance” formulation. I personally love this primer in “Hydrating” and “Protect”. Since most foundations are water based, it’s important to use a water based primer along with them. My makeup stays all day long and I don’t feel like I’m wearing a mask when I use this primer. It’s highly effective and comfortable! A+!

Becca’s attempt at a primer has proven to be a clear winner! This primer not only gives a soft, luminescent glow to the skin, but it also has a nice, subtle scent as you apply it. My makeup also stayed all day long when I used this primer, which is the most important factor. Still, I have used it without any other makeup and received numerous compliments on how “radiant” I look. So, you can use this alone or with makeup, and the warm glow it gives your skin is unparalleled.

shopping3. Cover FX Illuminating Primer 1 oz. – $38.00

I found this primer works perhaps the best at preserving the look of my makeup, and it also has a subtle “glow” that appears natural under foundation or alone. Cover FX is free of the Inflammatory 5: mineral oil, fragrance, gluten, parabens, and talc, making this product also great for the most sensitive skin. This primer truly “preps” the skin for makeup.

Have you tried any of these primers? What is your favorite? I want to know!
